Falcons Heat Up In Win Over the Penguins

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University tennis squad (1-2) found their first win of 2006 in home opening action versus the visiting Penguins of Youngstown State University (1-1) at Shadow Valley Tennis and Fitness Center.
The Falcons swept the doubles competition and did not allow more than three points in each of the four sets.
On the singles side, Ashley Jakupcin, Jenna Nussbaum and Heidi Romer were in control of the No. 1- No. 3 flights. Nussbaum and Romer each held their opponent to one scoreless set. Freshman Kelsey Jakupcin earned her second straight singles victory with a win at the No. 5 slot over Nicole Muzechuk , 6-2 and 6-1.
Andrea Volle, Erica Wolfe and newcomer Libby Harrison also beat their Penguin counterparts at the No. 7 - No. 9 flights.
The Orange and Brown will travel to Terre Haute, Ind. on Friday to face Indiana State University. The evening match will begin at 7:00p.m. The remaining days of the weekend will be spent in Indianapolis with a Saturday match against Butler and a Sunday morning match with DePaul.
