Bowling Green, Ohio - The following are post game notes after the Falcons' 66-44 win over Central Michigan.
BGSU now leads the series 35-27.
This was the first of six straight games against the MAC West.
The Falcons have won three straight games for the first time this season.
In the last four games, BGSU has allowed just 54.2 points per game on 34.9% shooting from the field and 22.7% accuracy from long distance.
BGSU held the Chippewas to just two points in the first 8:35 of the game.
CMU had a stretch of 15 minutes (3:03, 1st half to 8:03 in the 2nd) where they did not make a field goal. They missed eight shots in that stretch and had eight turnovers.
BGSU allowed a season-low 44 points. That total is the fewest allowed by a Dan Dakich-coached squad in a MAC game and the lowest in the modern era of college basketball (shot clock/three-pointer, 1986-87 to present).
BGSU forced a season-high 28 turnovers.
BGSU is 7-2 in MAC openers and 8-1 in the first league game at home under Coach Dakich.
BGSU is the top defensive team in the MAC in field goal percentage (38.5%) and three-point shooting (28.1%). Tonight, the Falcons held the Chippewas to 26.2% shooting and a 9.1 percent effort from long range. It is the third time this season that the Falcons have held an opponent below 30 percent from the field (Troy-27.8, and Western Carolina-28.9)
BGSU is 27-2 since 2001 when holding an opponent below 59 points in a game.
Te Falcons won for the first time in six games when it was outrebounded (42-31).
Junior Patrick Phillips made his first career three-point basket.
Freshman Brian Moten had a season-high nine points and posted season-bests in rebounds (3) and field goals made (3).
