The Bowling Green State University men's golf team finished 13th at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational at the Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Indiana on Tuesday. The Falcons, who shot a 54-hole score of 884, saved their best for last firing a 291 on the final day.
The highlight of the day was junior Jace Walker. The St. Thomas, Ontario native fired a career-low 66 on the final day of competition. After beginning the day at 3-over-par on the first two holes the junior proceeded to play the final 16 holes 7-under, including an eagle on the par-4 third hole. The 66 is the third-lowest score in school history.
Walker began the day in a tie for 22nd, but finished in a T-3rd with a 54-hole score of 209 (71-72-66).
Freshman Matt Schneider continued his strong freshman campaign with three solid rounds of 74-76-76--225 to finish in a tie for 60th.
Also competing for the Orange and Brown were Russell Goodwin (226, T-64th), Trevor Spathelf (226, T-64th) and Scott Blackburn (236, T-87th).
Up next for the Falcons is a Friday contest in Perrysburg, Ohio for the Owens Invitational, hosted by Owens Community College.
