Cleveland, Ohio - Junior defensive end Diyral Briggs was named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week on October 2 after he led a defensive line which accounted for eight TFLs and four sacks in the Falcons 21-9 defeat of Ohio. The Mt. Healthy High School graduate had seven tackles (five solo), 3.5 TFLs, two sacks and a forced fumble. His nine-yard TFL on a reverse play late in the third quarter keyed a momentum shift to stop a potential go-ahed drive by the Bobcats. On the day, the Falcons limited Ohio to just 54 yards rushing.
He is the third BGSU player to be honored by the league this season. Freshman cornerback Jerett Sanderson earned the defensive honor after the Florida International game and freshman quarterback Freddie Barnes earned Offensive Player of the Week accolades after the Wisconsin game.
