The Bowling Green State University men's golf team fired a 36-hole score of 568 for eighth-place at the Xavier Invitational after one day of competition. In a field that features six Mid-American Conference teams, the Falcons trail only EMU (567).
Leading the way for the Falcons were juniors Jace Walker and Trevor Spathelf. Walker carded back-to-back 71's, while Spathelf fired 72-70. Both are in a tie for 32nd overall.
Freshman Matt Schneider continued his strong campaign, carding a 144 (70-74, T-46th). Senior Dan McIntyre sits in a tie for 67 (78-71), while freshman John Powers carded the Falcons low round of the tournament thus far with a 69 (69-80, T-67th).
The third and final round will begin early Tuesday morning.
