BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University women's basketball fans get their first chance to see the Falcons in action Wednesday night (Nov. 1), and the price is more than right. The Falcons of sixth-year coach Curt Miller will meet the University of Findlay in the team's lone exhibition game, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Anderson Arena, and admission is free to all fans.
Miller and his staff welcome back nine letterwinners from a year ago, including all five starters. The list of returnees includes seniors Amber Flynn, Liz Honegger, Carin Horne, Ali Mann and Megan Thorburn; juniors Kate Achter and Whitney Taylor; and sophomores Lindsey Goldsberry and Jasmine McCall.
Wednesday's game will likely mark the debut of Falcon freshmen Tara Breske, Laura Bugher and Sarah Clapper.
Wednesday's game, as mentioned, marks the Falcons' lone exhibition of the 2006-07 campaign. BGSU opens the regular season on Friday, Nov. 10, at Detroit, and the home regular-season schedule commences two weeks later -- Friday, Nov. 24 -- when Temple comes to town.
Wednesday's exhibition will be aired on WBGU-FM 88.1, the Falcons' flagship station for women's basketball. WBGU will air nearly all of BGSU's games once again this winter.
The Falcons finished the '05-06 season with an overall record of 28-3, setting school and Mid-American Conference single-season records for victories. BGSU went a perfect 16-0 in MAC regular-season play, then won the MAC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Championships for the second-straight year.
