BGSU and Toledo will meet for the 71st time in a series which began in 1919. The Falcons hold a 36-30-4 lead in the overall series and will be looking to capture its first win in the Glass Bowl since the 1994 season (31-16), a span of six games. The teams play for the coveted Peace Pipe Award.
Overall this season, BG will play eight games away from home (7 road, 1 neutral). BGSU was designated as the home team at Cleveland Browns Stadium against Wisconsin in the season opener.
The Falcons lead the MAC in rushing offense (185.8), and third down conversions (41.0). BGSU is third in the league in total offense (347.9), sacks (25), sacks allowed (20) and fewest penalty yards (50.1).
The Falcons boast three of the top pass rushers in the MAC in senior defensive end Devon Parks, sophomore defensive end Diyral Briggs and senior linebacker Terrel White. The trio has combined for 19.5 sacks this season. Parks is third in the league with eight, Briggs is sixth with 6.5, and White is 11th with four after having a career-high three against Temple.
MAC Freshman of the Year candidate Chris Bullock ranks third in the nation among all freshmen running backs averaging 75.8 yards per game. His 757 yards of total rushing this season is a new BGSU freshman mark breaking the old record of 753 set by Godfrey Lewis in 1998.
Sophomore quarterback Anthony Turner has rushed for 196 yards and four TDs in the last two games averaging 4.8 yards per rush. He also has completed 33 of 60 passes for 323 yards during that time. He has thrown just one interception in his last 129 attempts.
The Falcons boast one of the youngest teams in the country having played 27 true or redshirt freshmen. Twenty-one players have made their first career start this season.
BGSU's .662 winning percentage since 2001 (47-24) is the best among all MAC schools since 2001, while Toledo is not far behind at .657 (48-25).
This will mark the final game for 11 seniors: WR Kenneth Brantley, *LB Jon Jakubowski, OL, John Lanning, OL Derrick Markray, LB Will Myles, DE Devon Parks, WR Ruben Ruiz, *DL Tommy Smith, DL Brad Williams, *LB Terrel White and *DB Michael Woods. Only seven were originally offered scholarships. Walk-ons are denoted by an asterisk.
This will be the 16th appearance on national TV for the Falcons since the 2003 season. From 1993 to 2002, BGSU played just one game on ESPN. That game was in 2000 against Toledo.
