BOWLING GREEN / DETROIT / CANCUN - The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team left Northwest Ohio Sunday morning (Dec. 17) and headed to Cancun, Mexico, for this week's Caribbean Classic.
This trip marks the first games outside of the United States in the history of the Falcon program. The BGSU traveling party left Anderson Arena at 7:00 a.m. Sunday and spent much of the day en route to Cancun. The team arrived at the Moon Palace Resort in the late afternoon, however, and still had time for practice and a little sightseeing.
The Falcons will have the usual practices and film sessions on Monday (Dec. 18), but the team members also will have some free time to continue to enjoy their surroundings.
BGSU, currently ranked 21st in the USA Today/ESPN poll, will take on fourth-ranked Duke University on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. local time (7:00 p.m. Eastern). The Falcons will face Texas-Arlington on Wednesday, again at 6:00 p.m. locally. Both games will be aired by WBGU-FM 88.1, and -- internet access willing -- will also have live stats courtesy BGSUFalcons.com and GameTracker.
