CANCUN, Mexico - The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team has broken into the Associated Press poll for the first time this season. The Falcons are ranked 25th in the nation in the latest edition of the poll, released Monday (Dec. 18).
"I am excited for the program, and certainly, I am excited for the kids," said Falcon head coach Curt Miller. "This ranking is a reflection of our success last year, but is equally a result of the success we have had to start this season, and the schedule that we are playing.
"Obviously, it is fun to be in the poll, but with Duke on the horizon, we need to focus on the task at hand. We could either gain more support in the polls with a good performance against Duke, or we could be right back out of the poll in a hurry.
"Ultimately, though, we have five days in Cancun, and -- with two tough games against Duke and Texas Arlington -- we just hope that we leave Cancun a better team than when we arrived."
BGSU is currently ranked 21st in the USA Today ESPN poll, with the next version of that poll to be released on Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 19).
The Falcons play the aforementioned two games at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico, facing Duke on Tuesday and UTA the following night.
