CANCUN, Mexico -
BGSU Coach Curt Miller
"When we scheduled this trip, and found out we were going to play Duke and Texas-Arlington, I was more worried about the Arlington game for a couple of reasons. They led the country in scoring defense last year, they are tremendous defensively. They control tempo, and they don't give you many possessions, so it forces you to shoot well, and to get on the offensive glass to get extra opportunities. It is scary, playing a low-scoring game against that team, because they have some very, very talented offensive players."
(On Lindsey Goldsberry)
"Lindsey plays with so much energy; she is everywhere. She's a pest. You love her as a teammate, and you hate to play against her. Even our kids, in practice, hate when Lindsey's on the other team. She's always getting deflections, she's always around the ball, she runs to the glass, both offensively and defensively. She was big in these two games."
"A lot of people stepped up tonight. Our bench was really big. Amber Flynn had a great game. When we were in a little bit of foul trouble, Whitney Taylor played her first significant minutes in a close game at the point-guard position. She did a heck of a job for us."
(What do you feel your team needs to improve upon?)
"Well, we've got to keep our confidence up. We shot the ball so well in our first eight games that we knew it wouldn't continue at that pace all year. The question was: can you win games when you don't shoot as well? Our defense has been very steady, but I think we can always become a better defensive team. We need to find a rotation where we can get 9 or 10 people comfortable, and as the season goes along, we need to get the freshmen more involved, and build more and more depth."
"The Delaware game is a monster game. They should be nationally ranked. They play a great zone, and are one of just two teams to beat us in the regular season last year. So, we will come back from the break and play a huge game."
(Should the Falcons remain in the polls after these two games?)
"Well, I'm not concerned one way or the other. I think the showing against Duke will earn us some respect. If we fall out of the AP poll, so be it. The bottom line is, we wanted to leave Cancun a better team (than when we arrived), and I think we are doing that. We played a great game against Duke, had our chances but let it slip away. And, to come back -- after such a tough game against Duke, and all the hype that goes into that -- to find a way to beat a very, very good Arlington team ... we are leaving as a better team, and I am proud of that. The polls will take care of themselves."
