Bowling Green, Ohio - Gregg Brandon has announced that defensive backs coach Dennis Springer will join the staff of Western Kentucky University where he will become the defensive coordinator.
"This is a great opportunity for Dennis and his family and we wish him nothing but the best," said Brandon. "He was a big reason for the success that we have enjoyed, including two bowl championships and a MAC West title."
The Fort Wayne, Indiana native came to BGSU from Ball State in 2003 and as the teams running backs coach and was instrumental in the development of P.J. Pope and B.J. Lane as they became two of the top 15 rushers in the history of the school. Pope is currently with the Green bay Packers.
This past year, he moved to the defensive secondary and help shape one of the youngest defensive backfields in the country into a core group which should lead the Falcons for years to come.
He will join a staff at WKU which is coached by his former teammate at Butler, David Elson. Springer is a 1993 graduate of Butler.
