Orlando, Fla. - In their sixth consecutive win of the season, Falcon tennis (8-4) defeated the Lakers of Grand Valley State (1-1). The Falcons handed the Lakers the 6-1 victory under the mid-afternoon sun in Orlando, Fla. in their first outdoor match of the season. GVSU entered the match ranked fourth in their region.
Coach Penny Dean mixed the doubles pairs by shifting Heidi Romer and Ashley Jakupcin, and still took three wins. For the first time this season Romer and Nussbaum played at the No. 1 flight while the sister act of Ashley and Kelsey Jakupcin combined at the No. 2. Erica Wolfe and Libby Harrison also brought in their first win as partners at the No. 3 flight.
In singles play, slots two-seven were won by the Falcons with a close one by Romer. With the exception of Romer's battle, each set saw GVSU limited to three points or less.
The Falcons will continue their spring break play with Mount Saint Mary's. First serve will be thrown at 6:00 p.m.
