Falcons Finish Eighth At MAC Championships

The Bowling Green State University women's golf team finished eighth at the 2006 Mid-American Conference Championships at Walden Ponds Golf Club in Indian Springs, Ohio. The Falcons, who improved after each round of the tournament, fired a 315, their fourth-best 18-hole performance this season.
On Sunday three Falcons broke 80. Sophomores Carley Hrusovsky and Jessica McCann posted a 75 and 79 respectively, while junior Kari Liggett recorded her second straight 77.
For the tournament, which was 72 holes for the first-time in MAC history, the Falcons were led by Hrusovsky. The North Canton, Ohio native carded a 318, while finishing T-21st.
Also competing for the Brown and Orange was McCann (318, 26th), Liggett (324, 34th), senior Amanda Schroeder (330, 38th) and sophomore Amanda Bader (331, 39th).
Notes Following The MAC Championships:
All five Falcons recorded a personal-best for 18 holes in the MAC Championships at sometime. Hrusovsky posted a 72 in round two, McCann fired a 75 in round one, Liggett scored 77's in round three and four, Schroeder's 79 in round three was a personal MAC Tournament best and Bader's 82 in round two was also a personal-record.
Team Note:
The Falcons were the lone team to improve each round. BGSU began Friday's action with a team score of 325. That same day they shot a 322. On Saturday they continued the upward trend, firing a 317, and concluded Sunday with a 315 team score.
Player Highlight:
Sophomore Jessica McCann led the entire field in par-3 scoring with an average of 3.00 through four rounds. She was the lone player among the 40 competitors to finish even or under par on the par-3's. As a side note, holes two and nine (both par-3's) ranked as the fourth and fifth hardest holes for the MAC Championships, averaging 3.51 and 3.49 strokes respectively.
