BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's golf team and head coach Stephanie Young have announced that this fall they will compete in five tournaments between Sept. 2 and Oct. 16. Highlighting the fall schedule will be the Youngstown Invitational, a tournament the Falcons won last season.
BGSU will kickoff the fall schedule with a trip to Grand Valley State to compete in the Grand Valley State Invitational on Sept. 4-5. This will be the first time in school history that the Falcons will have competed in this two-day event.
That same week they will travel a few hours south to Muncie, Indiana for the Cardinal Classic, set to take part on Sept. 9-10. Last season the Falcons finished seventh among the 14-team event. BGSU was led by Jessica McCann (78-81) and Amanda Bader (79-80).
Just days later BGSU will look to defend their Youngstown Invitational championship title on Sept. 11-12 in Youngstown, Ohio. Last season the Falcons fired a 36-hole score of 615 (303-312) to out-dual the 10-team field. Senior to be Karri Ligget (78-76) and McCann (77-77) finished in a tie for second with scores of 154, one shot from medalist.
After competing in three tournaments in a span of eight days, the Falcons will get some much needed rest before heading to Eastern Kentucky's tournament on Oct. 5-6. The last time the Brown and Orange competed in this event was back in 2002, when they finished third. That year former Falcon Jenny Schnipke earned medalist honors.
BGSU will close out their fall schedule with a trip to Cincinnati, Ohio for the Cincinnati Fall Classic, hosted by the Bearcats on Oct. 16-17. Last year McCann fired an 88-79, while Carley Hrusovsky was just two shots behind with a 90-79, to help the Falcons to a sixth-place finish in the 11-team field.
