BOWLING GREEN, Ohio- - The off-day of the opening weekend of play was spent relaxing and catching up with supporters of the Bowling Green soccer program over a round of golf at Forest Creason golf course. Yesterday, the "Bees" alumni four-some of Jason Began, Dan Kindl, Dave Kindl and Jon Giganti finished at 14-under par and won the 12th Annual Golf Classic.
Score sheets reported quite a few pars, a lot of birdies and the rumor of the occasional eagle.
"It was great for the new players to get a chance to meet and talk with the people who built our program. The entire team was impressed by those who came out and we all had a great time," said coach Fred Thompson. "A couple of players have the opportunity to swing a golf club for the first time today and maybe by next outing they may even hit the ball."
Thompson spent the afternoon playing with each of the participating teams while the current Falcons were given the chance to speak with those participating in the outing while others played nine holes with their families.
"I personally had a great time moving from group to group and spending time with everyone. I just want to thank the four-somes for letting me throw in my few strokes for the cause," said Thompson. "For most of you I am sorry I couldn't help, but on two of the holes, I'd like you guys to keep thinking I always play like that."
The Falcons finished their opening weekend with one win and one loss and will travel to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Friday-Sunday to take part in the Coastal Carolina Tournament.
