The Bowling Green State University men's golf team climbed one spot to finish third at the 2006 John Piper Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons, who shot 294 on day two (second best on the day), finished behind only Eastern Kentucky (575) and Campbell University (589).
The highlight of the day came from junior Jace Walker, who carded a 69, second-best on the day, behind only Eastern Kentucky's Trey Bowling, who fired a 68. Walker finished the tournament in fifth with a two-day total of 145.
Senior Dan McIntyre followed up his 75 on day one with a 73 on day two to finish in a tie for 10th.
Also competing for the Falcons were Trevor Spathelf (153, T-26th), Matt Schneider (153, T-26th) and John Powers (156, T-38th).
The Falcons also sent out a "B Team" this week. The Falcons' second group of five finished fifth among the 14-team field with a two-day score of 608.
They were led by Russell Goodwin (T-13th) who carded a 150, highlight by a 73 on Tuesday. Freshman Scott Blackburn (T-19th) finished one stroke behind with a 151 (76-75) and senior Brad Dearsman fired a 155 (76-79) to finish T-33rd. Also competing for the Orange and Brown were Andrew Ladwig (159, T-51st), Charles Seguin (159, T-51st) and Michael Bibler (165, T-67th).
Up next for the Falcons will be the Xavier Invitational on Oct. 2-3.
