OXFORD, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) -
HEAD COACH Curt Miller
"We are happy with the win. Certainly, any time you can start out 3-0 on the road in the MAC, it is a great accomplishment. But tonight just shows how much of a grind it is on the road in MAC play. They know everything you're gonna do; you know everything they're gonna do. Each team knows the other team's personnel. They try to take away things that the other team is trying to accomplish, and then players have to step up and make plays. I am proud of our kids for grinding it out. But, in the last two games we have not shot the ball or executed very well, and in the grand scheme of things, we are not playing championship basketball right now."
"Amber (Flynn) was huge for us tonight. She probably gets the game ball. She played a lot of minutes, and I thought we were better when she was on the floor. As tonight's game plan unfolded, they were not going to double down in the post, and Amber did the best job of any of our posts of beating people off the dribble. She created high-percentage shots and had another big game for us."
"You know, a team often takes on the personality of its head coach. I am a perfectionist, and this senior, veteran group realizes that I'm a perfectionist. In about a half-hour, (we will realize that) this is a really big win for us. We break up the MAC schedule into three mini-seasons, and the first of those is our five-game stretch against the MAC East. Mission accomplished; we came through that stretch at 5-0, and we will be ecstatic with that result. But, the perfectionist in us realizes that we are not satisfied with our execution and our effort tonight. We have some big dreams, and we know that we need to play better than this if we want to fulfill some of those dreams."
"We have had an incredible few years here. This team finds ways to win, and that's what it's all about. It has been an unbelievable run. But, for the first time, I think our team was a little frustrated after the OU game (Saturday). We are up 18 with two minutes to go in the game. We wound up winning by nine, and we come back to BG, and everyone is asking us, `What happened?' We won a MAC game on the road, and I was stopped on the street and asked `What the heck happened?' I think some people have lost touch with reality. We are finding ways to win. MAC wins are tough, no matter where you go. And we know that we haven't played our best basketball, but we are grinding it out. It bothered us a little bit, because we were ecstatic about going on the road and beating a good Ohio team. And it is the same way tonight. We know we need to execute better and shoot better, but we got another road win in the MAC tonight. We know what we need to do, and we know when we're not playing well, but we will take every win we can get."
SENIOR FORWARD Ali Mann
"It brings the morale of the team down a little bit, when we have big leads in the last couple minutes and start turning the ball over and missing free throws. Like Coach Miller said, it's a credit to us to keep grinding it out, but we need to work harder to learn to finish those games."
SENIOR POST Amber Flynn
"Coach always tells us that we need to have a balance, inside and out. The outside game was not going as well as we wanted it to tonight, so the inside game was very important. We missed some shots inside, too, but we knew we couldn't let that mess us up for the next time. We had to just try to go get the rebound or try harder the next time down the floor."
