KENT, Ohio (AP) - Omni Smith scored 14 points and Armon Gates added 13, using 4-of-5 shooting from 3-point range, and Kent State withstood a late surge to beat Bowling Green 62-61 Saturday night.
Martin Samarco scored 26 points and Nate Miller scored 20 and grabbed 14 rebounds for Bowling Green.
Kent State (10-8, 3-2 Mid-American Conference) has won three of its last four games.
The Golden Flashes led 32-29 at the half and were up 59-52 with 3:52 left after Gates made a 3-pointer. But facing a tight Bowling Green defense, Kent State couldn't make another basket.
The Falcons (10-8, 1-4) scored the next six points, cutting the margin to a point when Samarco made a 3-pointer with 1:17 left.
Smith made two free throws and Gates another in the final minute, but Miller sank a 3 with five seconds remaining.
Smith and Gates accounted for most of Kent State's 39-2 advantage in scoring off the bench.
