BGSU Coach Dan Dakich
"Obviously the game was decided in the last four minutes. We could not get a handle on Shawntes Gary and they hit their free throws. We have been in these situations all year but we did not execute and they did."
"We talked about it at half time and we never got a handle on Gary. He drove to the right and into the middle and pretty much did whatever he wanted."
"We still had the game at four with two-minutes left to play and we just could not get a stop. The season will go on and we will keep working."
On Erik Marschall's foul trouble
"It hurt not to have Erik at the end of the game, but what are you going to say. Erik battled all night long. I am proud of him but we need to be a better team."
On the tempo of the offense
"It was not a conscience effort to work the shot clock down as much as we did. I wanted to throw it inside and I did not want the quick shot. They are the leading scoring team in the league and they have been killing teams on the long rebound. I did not want to quick shoot, I wanted us to make the extra pass to stay with the offense."
BGSU sophomore Erik Marshall
"I had a lot of success in the first half. We were running some plays where I got some good looks and we took advantage of it. In the second half we kept working hard, I just do not think we executed like we did in the first half."
"Their defense was looking at me in the second half and I think they were just paying more attention inside."
"Tonight we did not execute on offense or on defense. That is something we are going to have to keep working on for the second half of the season. We are just going to have to keep battling."
"All MAC games are going to be tough. It doesn't matter who we play or what they do. If we execute we can beat anyone. If not, anyone can beat us."
"If we start doing what our coach wants us to do on offense and defense things will start to look up for us."
WMU Coach Steve Hawkins
"First of all I thought it was another MAC game. It was hard fought, and it was all tied up at around 7:30 minutes and fortunately for us we were able to make some plays down the stretch. I thought the big thing for us was that we were able to limit our turnovers in the second half. In the first half we had too many, I think we had eight in the first half and we had three in the second half for 11 turnovers. That was the big key, we felt that if we could get some good shots on goal then we have a good chance to be successful. That in turn gets our defense organized and set if we can make shots. I thought that was a big part of things in the second half."
"I thought our guys did an excellent job of hanging in there, we took some bad shots early. I thought our guys did an excellent job of hanging in there and battling. We settled down after half time and we were able to drive the ball fairly well to the basket and started knocking down some baskets."
"[Martin] Samarco and [Nate] Miller were number two and number four in the conference in scoring in conference games. We spent a lot of time talking about those two guys and how to defend them and challenging our players. Then Marschall comes in and has 17 points at half time."
