KALAMAZOO, Mich. (BGSUFalcons.com) -
BGSU COACH Curt Miller
"We talked about having a breakout game. We hadn't put together a great 40 minutes in a long time. We certainly have been able to grind it out at times, but we talked about taking out some frustrations that we've had in recent games. We had a second ACL injury earlier in the week, and we just talked about getting out there, taking out some of those frustrations and having a breakout game."
"Tonight was a tremendous win for us. I respect this (WMU) program a great deal. They clearly have the best player in the league (Carrie Moore), and we were worried about coming up here. But, our kids stepped up big tonight, and obviously a big difference in the game was points off turnovers, and the amount of deflections and the disruption that we created at the defensive end."
"It's hard to stop their three-headed monster. You've got the leading scorer in the nation (Moore), you've got arguably the most improved player in the league (Tiera DeLaHoussaye), and you've got a steady veteran center in Lindsey Brown. It is a tough team; they have a lot of parts, and it's hard to shut that down. But, what you can't do is allow their role players to have big nights against you. Their three players had good games, but when they weren't making shots, we were getting deflections and turnovers. They still shot a great percentage against us, but we were fortunate to come away with a lot of turnovers tonight."
(You are 17-2, you have won 10 in a row, and this was a breakout game for you?)
"Yes, it was a breakout game for us. We had not played well, and this is just the way we think. We don't talk about those streaks at all. Honestly, when we won our 16th game, we talked about the fact that we guaranteed ourselves a winning record for the season. This is a blue-collar program, and the sum is greater than its parts. We know that you are one play, one injury away from going on a losing streak. Maybe I'm a glass-half-empty guy. We don't talk about that streak, but this senior class that I get to work with is just an unbelievable group, and it has been a pleasure to work with them these last four years."

"Western came out on fire. They had a ton of emotion and energy, and we just had to withstand that first run. Once we came out of the first four-minute media timeout, we got the momentum back and started hitting the shots we are capable of making."
JUNIOR GUARD Kate Achter
(Are you used to being a big game for opponents?)
"Yes; every game we play, we know that teams are going to have the shot-out-of-a-cannon effect, as we call it. They are going to come out fired up to play us, and we have to match their effort and intensity."
"Offense wins games, defense wins championships. That's what we pride our program on, playing defense and getting stops. There are times in practices where we dread the defensive sections. But, defense has been our bread and butter, and that's what leads to our offense. It's a huge part of our game."
