BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) -Martin Samarco scored 43 points and hit a 3-pointer with two seconds remaining to lead Bowling Green to a 74-73 victory over Buffalo on Sunday.
The score was tied at 40 early in the second half, but Buffalo (8-6, 0-1 Mid-American Conference) pulled away on a 14-5 run that gave the Bulls a 54-45 lead with 14:39 remaining. Buffalo twice led by as much as 11 points before Bowling Green (10-4, 1-0) scored 12 straight points - half from Samarco - to take a 71-70 advantage with 1:33 left.
A 3-pointer from Eric Moore, who led the Bulls with 35 points, put Buffalo ahead again with 38 seconds remaining before Samarco's 3-pointer gave the Falcons the win.
Samarco was 16-of-24 shooting, including 7-of-12 3-pointers. Nate Miller had 13 points and five rebounds and Brian Guerin added 10 points and 10 assists.
The Falcons took a 16-point lead with 6:17 remaining in the first half, but Buffalo went on a 17-2 run to cut the deficit to 36-35 at halftime.
Moore made all but one of the Bulls' 3-pointers, shooting 11-of-16 from beyond the arc and 12-of-20 overall. Yassin Idbihi added 16 points and 12 rebounds.
The Falcons shot 54 percent (27-of-50), compared with about 43 percent (23-of-53) from the Bulls. Buffalo outrebounded Bowling Green 35-26.
The Falcons scored 29 points off 18 Buffalo turnovers.
