LOVELAND, Ohio - After 36 holes, senior captain Jace Walker and his Falcons sit in 15th place at the Xavier Invitational in Loveland, Ohio.
On the first day, the Falcons squad fired a combined score of 583. Their finish puts them 5 strokes out of a top 10 spot on the leader board heading into the final day of play.
Ontario native Jace Walker leads the Falcons and is currently tied for fifth place at the tournament. In the first round on Monday, Walker battled his way to a 2-under 70. In Walker's second round he improved by three shots to finish the day with a 7-under 137 (70-67).
Sophomore Andrew Ladwig is behind Walker by a mere six shots heading into the final day. In his first round of play, Ladwig carded a 1-over 73. Ladwig followed up his performance by going 2-under par to finish the day with a score of 143 (73-70) and tied for 27th.
Matt Schneider currently sits in a tie for 75th at the Xavier Invitational. After shooting a 75 in the first round of the day, Schneider dropped another shot to finish the day with a two round total of 151 (75-76).
Sophomore John Powers trails his teammate by one shot, finishing the day at 152. Powers fired a 1-over round in his first set of 18 holes on Monday. He would follow up that performance with a 79 to finish tied for 77th.
Gavin Aldridge rounds out the pack for the Falcons firing a pair of 79's on the first day of play. His score leaves him six shots behind Powers, and ties him for 99th in the tournament.
The Falcons continue play in their final round tomorrow at the Xavier Invitational, before heading to the Austin Peay Invitational in Hopkinsville, Ky. at the end of the month.
