Goldsberry Earns Another MAC Honor

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference has announced Lindsey Goldsberry, a junior guard on the women's basketball team, has been selected as the MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 15, 2007. Four days prior to winning the SAW award, Goldsberry was named the women's basketball MAC East Player of the Week.

In her third career start with the Falcons, Goldsberry set new career records in points (21), three-point field-goals made (5) and minutes played (32) while tying her existing record of eight rebounds in BG's 81-56 win over Valparaiso last Friday (Nov. 9) night. She also had a pair of steals in the effort.
Goldsberry was a major contributor to a 16-0 run against the Crusaders which gave BG its first [and last] double-digit lead of the night. On the night she was 7-of-10 from the field, 5-of-6 from behind the arc and 2-of-3 from the line.
The Dayton, Ohio native is an early childhood major who carries a 3.76 GPA and the first Falcons female student-athlete to earn the award in the 2007-08 academic year.
Goldsberry is the third consecutive BGSU student-athlete to earn the award. Hunter Van Houten of the men's soccer team and Sinisa Vrvilo of the football team were the recipients one and two weeks ago, respectively.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives. The Falcons will take on Lipscomb tonight (Friday, Nov. 15) at 7:00 p.m. CST.
