Lichtensteiger Named a Finalist for the Rimington Trophy

DALLAS, Texas - Bowling Green State University senior Kory Lichtensteiger has been named one of six finalist for the 2007 Rimington Trophy, given to college football's most outstanding center.
Lichtensteiger, a four-time All-MAC performer (first-team in 2006 & 2007) was also a semi-finalist for the Draddy Award and is also a member of the Lombardi Watch List. He has started all 12 games this season, helping the Falcons rank third in the MAC in scoring (32.1) and first in passing yards (286.8) and total first downs (286).
Joining Lichtensteiger as a finalist will be Steve Justice (Wake Forest), Jonathan Luigs (Arkansas), Alex Mack (California), Adam Spieker (Missouri) and Cody Wallace (Texas A&M).
The winner of the Rimington Trophy will be announced at The Home Depot College Football Awards show, broadcast live from Orlando, Florida on ESPN on Thursday, December 6, 2007.
The eight-year old trophy is presented by Canon and The Cornhusker Marriott. The award is presented by the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
Esiason created his foundation in 1993 to support research and treatment of cystic fibrosis. Esiason and Dave Rimington were teammates on the Cincinnati Bengals from 1984-87. Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first team All-America center at Nebraska in 1981 and 1982 during which he became the John Outland Trophy's only double winner as the nation's premiere college interior lineman.
