FALCONS AT THEIR BEST IN MOREHEAD STATE GAME
BGSU shot a season-high 60 percent from the field and tied their season best with 90 points for the second straight game. The Eagles came out in a zone defense and when freshman Ryan Sims hit a three-pointer to make it 5-2 in the first minute it seemed to give BGSU a boost it sorely needed. Junior Ryne Hamblet, senior Martin Samarco, sophomore Brian Moten, and sophomore Darryl Clements drilled three's into the teeth of the zone and that opened it up inside for sophomore's Erik Marschall and Nate Miller. Marschall would come off the bench to score 12 of his 18 points in the first half as BGSU led 44-24 at halftime. Samarco, who finished with a game-high 22 points, would hit a three-pointer to start the second half and Miller, who had 11 of his 19 points in the second half, would help BGSU build a 73-42 lead with 9:53 to go.
BGSU LIKES THE BRACKETBUSTER
The Falcons improved to 6-3 all-time in BracketBuster related games, including a 3-2 record on the road with the win at Morehead State.
MIAMI GAME MOVED FOR TELEVISION
The Falcons final game of the regular season against Miami on March 4 will be televised by Fox Sports Ohio as part of the league's television package. The game has been moved from 2 p.m. to noon.
FALCONS LEAD
BGSU is the top team in the MAC in field goal percentage defense. In league play, BGSU is holding opponents to 41.2% shooting from the field, while overall teams are shooting 39.8% from the floor.
MILLER HAS BIG WEEK
Sophomore forward Nate Miller posted the league's only triple-double of the season with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Buffalo. He followed that up with 19 points and seven rebounds against Morehead State. He is averaging 14.2 points and 7.5 rebounds. He had his third double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds against Toledo. He had a 15-point, nine-board performance against Ball State. He had 18 points against Central Michigan, 20 points and a career-high 14 rebounds against Kent State and also notched a career-best 21-point performance against Miami where he made eight of 11 field goal attempts. In league play, he is averaging 15.4 points (7th in the league), 7.5 rebounds (7th) and 2.1 steals (3rd) in MAC games only. Miller also had 19 points and 10 rebounds against Marshall, 17 points at Ohio and 15 points and seven rebounds against Akron. He came to BGSU after playing one semester at UNC-Wilmington. He is a graduate of Springfield South High School.
MARSCHALL HAS BIG FIRST HALF AT MOREHEAD STATE
Sophomore Erik Marschall finished with 18 points against Morehead State, but his 12 points in the first half helped the Falcons build a 44-24 advantage at intermission. Earlier this season, he had a career-high 19 points and tied a school record when he made all eight of his field goal attempts against Western Michigan. That tied the BGSU single-game standard established by Brent Klassen in 2002 against Marshall. The New London, Ohio native had 17 of his points in the first half. For the season, Marschall is averaging 9.7 points and 4.4 rebounds.
LEFELD HITS CENTURY MARK
Senior center Matt Lefeld played in his 100th career game with the Falcons against Morehead State. He started the 53rd game of his career and had four points.
