Falcons Host All-Ohio on Saturday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team finishes their regular season by hosting the All-Ohio. They will welcome in Mid-American Conference Opponent, Kent State, and 21st ranked Ohio State. The meet will be held this Saturday (March 24) at 7:00 p.m. inside Anderson Arena. The Falcons are returning home after placing third out of four at the CAT Classic, and finishing fourth out of four at Texas Women's University.
Everything is bigger in Texas
On March 10, the Falcons traveled to Denton, Texas where they competed at Texas Women's University. They finished fourth out of four scoring 192.575. Kentucky won the event (196.200), followed by TWU (194.825), and SEMO (194.295).
Junior Jacque Bernhardt lived up to "everything is bigger in Texas", when she set a second all time school record on the vault with a 9.925. Jholeen Ponce continued to score big on vault with a 9.850, a new career best for her. On bars the Orange and Brown were led by Sakura Tomita who tied for fifth, with a 9.800, also a new season best for her. Ponce also led the team on the beam finishing ninth with a 9.750. Freshman Morgan Balzer shined on the floor with a 9.725 a tenth place finish. She also finished sixth in the all-around with her second highest score of 38.550.
Rematch against the Flashes
Earlier this season these two squads met, and the Orange and Brown were downed 193.700-192.225. The Flashes are led by junior Kristin Peters, who scored a 9.800 on vault in the KSU's last meet. She also scored a 9.900 on bars to help lead the team to a 194.575-193.750 victory over George Washington.
In-state rivals, the Buckeyes
Ohio State enters this competition with a 195.020 average. They are led by junior Maalike Moore-Thomas who is averaging a 39.150 in the all-around. On the floor she is averaging a 9.830. Sophomore Amanda Surine is averaging 9.840 on vault. Overall OSU leads the series 21-6.
Schedule reminder
After tonight's meet, the team will get a short rest before heading to Ypsilanti, Michigan where they will compete in the MAC Championships.
