This Weekend's Matchup
The Falcons fell behind four runs to none after one and a half innings, but battled back to make a very suspenseful bottom of the ninth before eventually dropping a 5-3 decision to Michigan State. After a walk and two hit batsmen put the winning run on first base for the Falcos, Sophomore Ryan Shay connected on a fly ball to center field, but the 26 mph winds from the northeast held it up in the air, not allowing the runner from third to tag up. Sophomore Marty Baird dug in next for the Falcons. The Findlay, Ohio native belted a line drive right back at the pitcher which looked like it may score a run or two. However, MSU's Mike Montery reacted lightning fast and snagged the line drive right above his toes, spun around and tossed the ball over to third before the Falcon runner could get back for a game-ending double play.
Falcons Romp Wright State Raiders
Bowling Green banged out 11 runs on 17 hits in route to a road win at Wright State, 11-1.

Senior Eric Lawson ignited the offense from the lead-off position with four hits in five at-bats, including a homerun and two runs scored. Sophomore Andrew Foster belted a homer as well. The Bowling Green, Ohio native tallied two hits, three RBI and two runs scored in the contest.
A Pair of Wild Games at Steller Field
Warren E. Steller Field, the home of the BGSU Falcons, has already been the sight of two abnormal games this season. in Bowling Green's home opener, the Falcons blew a 7-3 lead heading into the ninth by allowing only to rebound in the home-half of the inning with two runs of their own to capture the 9-8 victory. It marked the Falcons eighth consecutive win in the home opener.
In the Oakland game, the Golden Grizzlies hit nine Falcon batters, the most recorded in an NCAA game since 2002, and only the fifth game it has ever happened. The all-time NCAA record is 10 hit batsmen in one contest.
Johnson Snags MAC Pitcher of the Week Honors
Senior Tyler Johnson improved his season record to 3-0 after allowing just one run on six hits and two walks during an eight-inning stint against Le Moyne College in the Ball State Invitational. Johnson struck out five Dolphins in the 7-1 Falcon victory. Johnson has lowered his season ERA to 1.17 after four starts which have included three times as many strikeouts as walks allowed (15:5).
