The Bowling Green State University men's golf team carded a final round 290 to climb two spots in the final round of the 2007 Firestone Intercollegiate. Overall the Falcons finished with a 54-hole score of 887. The Orange and Brown finished ahead of Mid-American Conference schools Ohio (895), Northern Illinois (897), Ball State (900) and Miami (901).
The 17-team field also featured 96 golfers, with four of the Falcons finishing in the top-34.
As a team the Falcons' 290 was the best round of the 17 teams in the final round, with three Falcons carding a par-or-better round on the final day. Walker and Powers shot an even par 72, with Ladwig carding a 71 on Sunday afternoon.
Junior Jace Walker (76-71-72=219) finished three-over par to finish in a tie for 13th.
Just one stroke off that pace was freshman Andrew Ladwig (72-77-71), who finished in a tie for 17th.
Rounding out the top five for the Orange and Brown were freshman John Powers (222, T-22nd), freshman Matt Schneider (226, T-34th) and junior Trevor Spathelf (247, 94th).
Up next for the Falcons will be the 2007 Mid-American Conference Championships in Westerville, Ohio, a tournament BGSU will be hosting.
