BG Bowlers Finish 7th in 2007 USBC Sectional Qualifier
April 04, 2007 | General
In their first year of existence, the Bowling Green Bowling Club recently finished 7th out of 17 teams competing in a Sectional Qualifier (in Chattanooga, TN) for the 2007 United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championships. With the top four teams advancing to the Championships April 18-21, the Falcons, as a team, finished a mere 250 pins shy of advancing. When spread across the entire competition (a 64-game Baker format), that calculates to an average of only 4 pins per game shy of 4th Place. Defending National Champion Saginaw Valley State won the qualifier running away.
The BG Bowlers were coached in their inaugural season by local proprietor and long-time Falcon fan Bill Wammes, and boasted four Academic All-Americans in Sophomore Ben Wuebbenhorst, Grad Student James Hayes, Sophomore Chris Black, Senior Dean Marten and Freshman John Szczcunski.
