Falcons Open Fall Season on Monday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's golf team will tee up their 2007 season on Monday (Sept. 3) when they travel to Allendale, Mich. for the Laker Fall Classic, hosted by Grand Valley State University.
The Falcons are coached by third year head coach Stephanie Young. In the 2006-2007 season, Young helped the Falcons to a first place finish at the Taco Bell Invitational in Youngstown, Ohio. She also coached recent graduate Kari Liggett to Bowling Green's first MAC Sportswoman of the Year award.
Six participants return from last year's squad that finished seventh at the MAC Championships in Nashport, Ohio. The Falcons are led again this year by, Carley Hrusovsky a native of North Canton, Ohio, as well as several other classmates.
Last year Hrusovsky posted an 81.90 average in 20 rounds of play. Her best finish last year was the EKU Colonel Classic where she placed fifth (79, 81, 82). In addition, Hrusovsky's lowest round was a 78 at the Cardinal Classic hosted by Ball State University.
Trailing Hrusovsky is fellow senior Jessica McCann, a senior from Mason, Ohio. Last season McCann tied her best round by recording a 73 at the Taco Bell Invitational. McCann finished at the top of the leader board for the Invitational, and she finished second at the very same tournament in the 2005-2006 season.
Lima, Ohio, native Amanda Bader highlighted her junior campaign by recording a career-low 76 at the Cardinal Classic. Bader compiled a season average of 82.68 while taking 12th at the EKU Classic (78, 85, 84). She recorded seven sub-80 rounds making it her second season where she has had five or more rounds below 80.
Rounding out the senior class this season is Lindsey Jonkhoff from Traverse City, Mich. Jonkhoff placed fifth at the Taco Bell Invitational in the fall. She continued her strong year by tying her career low at the Rio Verde Collegiate in Rio Verde, Ariz. when she carded a 76 on the second day of the tournament.
Sophomore Megan Gormley finished last season with an average of 90.63 in eight rounds of play. She shot her career-best at the Rio Verde Collegiate posting an 86. Gormley would card 86 for two more rounds in her freshman campaign.
Hannah Lambert, a sophomore from Brook Park, Ohio returns for her second season as a Falcon. She appeared in her first collegiate tournament at the Laker Fall Classic finishing 96th (94,89). Lambert also averaged 97.2 strokes per round this season.
The Falcons welcome four new members to their squad this fall. De'Onna Anderson of Grand Rapids, Mich. adds her 79.0 stroke average and all-state, all-area and all-conference honors to the Falcons this year. In addition, Megan Bader brings her 79.64 average and District medal to the team. Bader is the sister of senior Amanda Bader.
BGSU also added Lauren Glew to their roster in the off-season. Glew, a Gibsonia, Pa. native, averaged 79.4 strokes in her senior season on her way to winning the Western Pa. Regional Championship and finishing sixth at state. She is joined by her twin sister Marisa Glew who posted a 79.1 stroke average and was sectional individual champion her senior year.
After the two-day tournament in Allendale, Mich. the Falcons will compete in the MAC Preview in Indianapolis, Ind.(Sept. 10-11) and at the Nittany Lion Invitational in University Park, Pa.
