After day one at the John Piper Intercollegiate in Bowling Green, Ohio, the Falcons trail first place by two shots. Atop the leader board is sophomore Andrew Ladwig, who finds himself in a familiar place after Saturday's first place finish.
Ladwig's score of 136 (68, 68) ties the best 36-hole average by a Falcon. On Monday, Ladwig birdied 10 holes in two rounds of play to put him at a total of 8-under through 36-holes.
Senior captain, Jace Walker is breathing down Ladwig's neck. In the morning, Walker shot a 2-under 70. He would then match his score on the second round, shooting 2-under again for a 36-hole total of 140.
Matt Schneider sits three shots behind walker in a tie for sixth place. The sophomore shot even-par in his first round, and followed up that performance by going 1-under in the second round today. Additionally, Schneider would sink 28 putts for par in his first 36 holes of the Piper Intercollegiate.
The fourth Falcon to finish in the top ten today was John Powers. Over the course of two rounds Powers managed to par 28 holes on his way to even-par on the day. Powers shot a 74 in the first round and a 70 in his second round.
Shooting 6-over on the day was Russell Goodwin. After shooting a 76 on the front nine, Goodwin recovered to shoot a 74 for a two-round total of 150.
Joining the Falcons at the John Piper Intercollegiate is their `B' team consisting of the remaining five members of the team.
Finishing at the top of the pack for the `B' squad was Bryan Mitchell. He finished two-over on the day. His 36-hole score was good enough to net him a tie for 17th.
Trailing Mitchell was Chad Walker. After shooting two-under in the first round, Walker then shot a 77 for a 36-hole score of 147.
Trevor Spathelf and Scott Blackburn both shot a two-round total of 149. Spathelf shot a 73 in the first round and a 76 in the second round. Blackburn did the reverse when he shot a 76 in the first round and a 73 in the second round.
Charles Seguin shot a two round total of 162 (79, 83). Seguin's finish would net him 74th after two rounds.
The Falcons continue their quest tomorrow at Stone Ridge Golf Club. The third and final round starts tomorrow morning at 8:00 am and is a shotgun start.
