The new facility is located on Stadium Drive, between Steller Field (baseball) and the BGSU Softball Field.
Some matches will be held at Keefe Courts, which are located across Stadium Drive from the new complex. Keefe Courts -- within easy walking distance from the new facility -- are behind the BGSU Ice Arena, near the Cochrane Soccer Stadium complex.
Play begins at 9:00 a.m. each day.
Head coach Penny Dean enters her 18th season at the BGSU helm. She and the Falcons will host a tourney field that includes Akron, Bradley, Cleveland State, Detroit, Toledo, Xavier and Youngstown State. Team scores will not be kept, but individual champions will be crowned at each of seven singles and four doubles flights.
"We are looking forward to our first competition on our new courts," said Dean. "After weeks of practicing against our own teammates, we are ready to face some other teams and see how we match up in the early portion of the season."
Dean lost a pair of seniors (Ashley Jakupcin and Erica Wolfe) off of last year's squad, but welcomes back seven letterwinners who are joined by a talented newcomer.
The 2007-08 senior class consists of Jenna Nussbaum and Andrea Volle. They are joined by three juniors, two sophomores and one freshman.
Libby Harrison, Kelsey Jakupcin and Stefanie Menoff comprise the junior class, while Katia Babina and Samantha Kintzel enter their sophomore seasons. Christine Chiricosta (Avon Lake, Ohio) will make her collegiate debut this weekend.
As mentioned, the scheduled format for this year's BGSU Invitational includes seven singles and four doubles flights. In singles, there is an eight-player draw at each of the seven flights. In doubles, there are eight teams in each of the top-three flights, with six doubles teams in the fourth flight.
