BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Each week, Bowling Green State University Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics Greg Christopher answers a few of the many questions that have been submitted to BGSUFalcons.com. Here is the latest installment ...
Q: Will the band be moving back into the north end zone (where the whole stadium can hear them) now that the Sebo Center is complete?
Brian in Bowling Green
A: Yes, this Saturday you will see the marching band in the seating area designed specifically for them at the north end of Perry Stadium. The band was practicing in the stadium this (Monday) afternoon and sounded great. Having the north end of the stadium closed in, along with the band at that end, will increase the overall volume in The Doyt.
Q: Do you or members of the athletic department staff ever read fan message boards like Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba.com?
Ron in New York
A: Yes, I check AZZ.com, although I'm not sure about other staff members. I go to the site occasionally to get a general sense of the threads more than specific comments.
Q: My question deals with the hockey team and the long-standing tradition of every BGSU hockey game being broadcast on WBGU. Earlier this year, Andy Evans left to accept his new position in Michigan. With his departure, this left a vacant spot for the voice of the Falcon Icers. Has there been any discussion on who will be taking over for Andy in the 2007-08 season?
Drew in Bowling Green
A: We look forward to another season of hockey on 88.1 and yes, there have been conversations about filling the play-by-play role for hockey. Scott Paluch, Ryan Gasser from WBGU, Dave Meyer from our Athletic Communications office and Jim Elsasser, hockey's administrator, have been talking about potential candidates and listening to tapes. My understanding is the list has been narrowed and the new PBP announcer -- or announcers -- should be selected soon.
