Bowling Green Head Coach Gregg Brandon post-Temple quotes
On the defense in the second half
"I am going to remember this game as the game that Kenny Lewis stole the ball; that was the play of the game in my opinion. I looked at our team at halftime and I saw a look of determination and one of frustration. I didn't know who was going to come out the second half. The defense came out with that look of determination. Kenny made a big play and we really never looked back.
"The only disappointing thing was that we emptied the bench in the fourth quarter, and we let them get a couple of scores on us. The back-up kids need to understand that if we are going to do that, get big leads, they need to come in and do the job. We had seven three and outs in a row in the second half and then we let them get a couple of scores. But again, we got some kids in who got a chance to play and we hope to learn from that and get better."
On the special teams and kicking to Travis Shelton
"Where he was located was dictating where we kicked the ball. If you notice just as we were getting ready to kick the ball on the first kick off, Temple switched Daryl Robinson and Shelton. After we covered that first one, we knew we were ready to go so we kicked it deep on the next one."
On the second half performance
"We talked about how winning college football games is not easy. It just seems like the expectations around here is that we have to blow people out, and that's not happening anymore. It's a level field; there are only a handful of teams today that can blow people out on a weekly basis. We just talked about how it's the second half, and it's a tie ball game.
"My main goal was to work on our team's frustration. We left them off the hook, we jumped out 21-7 and then left them get back in the game. I just wanted to settle them down and continue to play with the poise we had at the beginning. Our senior leadership stepped up in the second half. The starters, particularly on defense, came out with great resolve that we were going to stop Temple."
Thoughts on the team being `overlooked'
"I think after the first win we got peoples attention. I don't think anyone overlooks anyone in our conference. Kent and Akron had a great game today. It's going to be close, its going to come down to who can stay healthy, who can survive the schedule through October and November."
On revenge over Temple
"That was then, and this is now. We are a completely different team this year and I don't want to get into all of that. This team, this year learned from that loss. The kids that played in that game took the bitterness of that defeat and learned from it. We talked about that earlier in the week but that didn't come up today. What came up today was to stay the course."
On pressuring QB Adam DiMichele
"We didn't change anything up, the guys just cranked it up. We were a little bit sloppy in our pass rush, but we knew he was a good scrambler. We saw that in the film, and knew that he was going to run around and make some plays. We needed to be disciplined in our pass rush lanes, so when he did scramble there was at least someone there in position to get him. "
On throwing for a majority of the offense
"That's who we are. We are a throwing team. As long as Tyler keeps throwing the ball like he is throwing we are going to continue to be a passing team. The running game is important. If we can rush the ball for 100 plus yards we are good. We like to spread people out and throw the football, that's Bowling Green football."
On Tyler Sheehan's performance
"I thought it was ok; he didn't take care of the ball like he needed to. The third and two was frustrating because he had Freddy[Barnes] in the flat for the first down, but he tried to force it deep and the guy picked it.
"He is a true sophomore quarterback. He has started three football games, so there are going to be some things that show up with him. But again, today he completed over 30 passes and that's the third time he has done that. I think that's pretty impressive. We just need to keep scoring enough points to win games."
Bowling Green player post-Temple quotes
Senior, Defensive Lineman, Diyral Briggs
On points of concern for the defense at the half
"I wouldn't say we were concerned because we've been there before. We have had close games at halftime, but we were able to come out fired-up, get the momentum back, give our offense a chance and put them in better field position."
On the emergence of the defense making big plays
"That was a big part of our defense, I think that definitely got the crowd excited. We just feel that we're going to let everybody know that this is a new team with a new attitude. All around, defense, offense, we're more of a unit now; we're together."
Sophomore, Quarterback, Tyler Sheehan
On was it was like to get revenge for last year's game versus Temple
"It was really good. I mean, we've been looking forward to it all week; actually we've been looking forward to it since last year when we came back from Philadelphia. It felt good to get our first MAC win especially against those guys (Temple) after what happened last year."
On the Temple change anything in the second half
"At the beginning of the half they started turning up the pressure and stuff like that, but we've got in some tough situations and some penalties and stuff like that and so we had to make plays for those 3rd and 20's."
Sophomore, Wide Receiver, Tyrone Pronty
On the Offense coming out and scoring after halftime
"We felt really good coming out of halftime, and scoring, getting us out on top, so it helped us a lot."
On Sheehan's performance
"I feel positive about his performance because he spread the ball around and got us all involved."
Temple Head Coach Al Golden post-game quotes
On the turnovers
"I thought Josh [Bundy] was making a second effort and it was a situation of ball security, which we work on everyday. The other one was ridiculous. I don't know what Travis [Shelton] was doing. He made bad decisions a couple times. He's trying to do things outside of what our system is and I need to evaluate him as a return man. We had another turnover and a missed field goal. That's 24 points right there."
On fixing the turnovers
" We work like crazy at it. Ball security; we work hard at it everyday. Our veteran players turned the ball over. Whatever we are doing we are going to keep working at it."
On the Bowling Green passing attack
" You got to give them a lot of credit, but we spotted them 24 points. I thought the defense was playing really well in the first half. The offense moved the ball, and we had the ball for 20 minutes in the first half. Two of the touchdowns were not defensive related. It's going to be hard to judge our defense based on what happened here. Once we got down and things started to get away from us that's when we got hurt."
On going for it on fourth down before the end of the first half
"I thought we could tie it up and then get the ball back in the second half, and I obviously imagined it going a little different than the way it did. I knew it was going to be a tight game. I was happy to get the ball back in the second half and I knew we would have to win it in the fourth quarter."
