East Meets West
Saturday's games will mark the beginning of the MAC's crossover games where the East will take on the West ... after a full cycle of divisional games, Bowling Green, Ball State and Western Michigan posted the best records with fours wins and a single loss ... four programs will start the cross at 3-2 ... Kent State and Northern Illinois each have two wins while Akron and Central Michigan have gone five MAC games without a win ... four of the six East teams have 10-plus wins ... despite teetering on the edge of an at least 10 win season, no squad in the West has yet to step over the threshold ... Western Michigan (4) and Ohio (3) are the only schools riding current win streaks of more than a game.
The Aftermath of a Championship Season
After beating Kent State [on back-to-back occasions] and Ball State in consecutive MAC Championships the Falcons are 2-0 in their next MAC outings with the programs ... in 2005, BGSU beat KSU in the final game of the season and turned around to beat the Golden Flash on the road 61-58 in 2006 ... in the 2006 championship KSU once again faltered to the Falcons only to lose again in 2007; this time in Anderson Arena, 74-52... last year, the Falcons beat the Cardinals in the championship game and will face them for the first time since on Saturday.
Follow the Winning Bricked Road
Though the Falcons have seen a pair of losses at home in the league over the past two season, their in-season 19 game MAC road winning streak remains in tact ... seniors Kate Achter and Whitney Taylor are the only Falcons on the active roster to lose a MAC road game ... that last road loss occurred at Eastern Michigan on Feb. 19, 2005 [57-52] ... with Achter and Taylor aboard the BGSU winning train, BGSU is 25-2 on the road ... when including MAC tournament wins, the Falcons are 34-2.
Vets of the MAC Sidelines
Of the 12 current MAC head coaches only six, including Curt Miller, have coached in 100 league games ... of those six, Bob Lindsay's 220-85 record in going on 19 seasons with Kent State tops the winning chart with his 72.1 percent winning streak in the conference ... drawing a close second is Miller's 70-31 (.693) winning ways ... following suit are Toledo's Mark Ehlen (137-64; .685; 13th season), Western Michigan's Ron Stewart (106-77; .579; 11th season) and Miami's Maria Fantanarosa (87-74; .540; 10th season) ... Ball State's Tracy Roller would have been included on the list this season, but has sat out a majority of the games due to illness.

Bowling Green vs. Ball State "Quick Facts"
The Cardinals of Ball State University have had a unique season thus far as they have been without head coach Tracy Roller for a majority of the season due to illness ... under the direction of Associate Head Coach Lisa McDonald the Cardinals have reached a 4-1 MAC record after their first tour of the MAC West ... in his tenure with the Falcons, head coach Curt Miller is 6-4 ... only Northern Illinois (4), Eastern Michigan (5) and Kent State (5) have matched or beat BSU's four victories over Miller ... after scoring just 4 pts. on BSU as a freshman, Kate Achter had steadily increased her scoring productivity vs. the program ... she has since posted outings of 14 and 18 pts. in the regular season and another 18 pts. in last year's MAC Championship game ... she has dished no less than four assists per BSU contest ... Whitney Taylor has not seen significant action vs. the team since her rookie season where she went 2-4 from the floor en route to knocking down a pair of trey's ... last season Lindsey Goldsberry did not miss a shot in two games versus Ball State and was 3-3 from the floor, in fact she has just missed one three pointer in her career versus the squad ... in each of her three games she has picked-up a steal ... the sophomore class has played a combined 4:00 versus BSU ... on a semi-related note, Muncie, Ind. is also famed for serving as the host site for the failed reality show, Armed and Famous.
