MOBILE, Ala. - Day Two Photo Gallery
Day two is in the books. The Bowling Green State University football team participated in their first practice in Mobile, took a team picture, and squared off with Tulsa in a bowling challenge.
BGSU opened the morning with a trip to Ladd-Peebles stadium to take their team picture (click the photo gallery to check it out).
Later in the day they participated in a practice at UMS-Wright, in temperatures much like in Ohio, ranging between 26 and 42 degrees, with winds gusting into the mid-20s. Rumor has it that Thursday's temperatures will be the same, but starting Friday the Falcons will see the 50s and 60s.
To finish the night they traveled downtown to a local bowling alley that had 40 lanes, all jammed-packed with five bowlers per lane (50% filled by Tulsa). While team scores will not be announced until tomorrow afternoon, BGSUFalcons.com was there to compile some of the top individual scores from the night.
In game one the Falcons were led by Antonio Smith, who fired a 208 (the top score for either team throughout the night). Other top Falcon scores included Adrian Baker (175), Chris Scheidt (175), Matt Emans (173), Tyler Sheehan (172), Cody Basler (164), Marques Parks (162), and Michael Ream (145).
In game two Jimmy Schiedler rolled a 179, tops for the Orange and Brown. Other top scores were Drew Nystrom (176), Baker (170), Roger Williams (172), Anthony Turner (169), Derek Brighton (168), Scheidt (158), Benjy Kennedy (155), Emans (151), Tyler Donahue (150), and Parks (146).
Tomorrow the Falcons will tour the USS Alabama.
Kory Lichtensteiger was once again kind enough to blog for the great BGSU football fans
Hello again Falcons,
This is day number two of my blog, and what a day it was! The people in charge of the bowl and the coaches kept us busy today. We started off the day at Ladd-Peebles Stadium where we took our team GMAC Bowl picture. Believe it or not, at 9:30 a.m. in Mobile it was down-right cold. After the photographer snapped what seemed to be at least a thousand shots of the team, it was an all out sprint to get back to the locker room and into the heat.
After the photo, and another ridiculous meal at the hotel, we went on to have our first practice in Mobile. We started back right where we left off at Bowling Green. Lots of hard hitting and excitement about the upcoming game. We're practicing on a local high school's field, which has a similar playing surface to the Doyt. Their students come back to school tomorrow and we're expecting lots of stares as we walk by elementary classrooms on our way to the practice field. lol.
After practice we went bowling against Tulsa, and the initial poll says we dominated them. I personally had a below average night, scoring 129 and 124. We did have some great individual performances by Antonio Smith and Drew Nystrom!
All and all it was another fantastic day in Mobile. I will report back tomorrow night with another edition.
Go Falcons!
Kory
