BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team has once again moved up in the regional rankings. The Falcons of head coach Cami Wells are now seventh in the Great Lakes Region, according to the rankings released Monday (Oct. 20) by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The Falcons broke into the poll three weeks ago at the 13th spot, and have continually risen in the polls the past two weeks.
BGSU rose three spots after an impressive first-place showing at Friday's (Oct. 18) Falcon Invite in Bowling Green, Ohio. BGSU had the top finish of the three Mid-American Conference teams entered in the race, as Toledo finished second and Buffalo third.
In this week's USTFCCCA poll, the Big Ten Conference has the top-three teams, as Michigan State is first, followed by Michigan and Wisconsin. Indiana is ranked fourth, while Notre Dame dropped to fifth and Miami holds on to sixth.
Both the BGSU men's and women's teams are preparing for the Mid-American Conference Championships, Saturday (Nov. 1). The meet will be held at Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, Mich. The men's 8K race is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. and women's 6K race starting at 12:00 p.m.
