CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference league office has just announced the MAC Player's of the Week, with Bowling Green State University junior P.J. Mahone taking home MAC East Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping the Falcons down Kent State 45-30 on Saturday afternoon.
Mahone and the Falcon defense held Kent State scoreless in the first half, including three three-and-outs and two interceptions to help the Falcons race out to a 28-0 lead at the half.
Overall, Mahone finished with eight tackles, one interception and three pass breakups.
This is the third time in the junior's career he has earned the award after capturing the league's top weekly honor follow the Akron and Toledo contests in 2007.
Mahone leads the Falcons with 70 tackles on the year, while also recording two interceptions and six pass breakups.
