Briggs Named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Playing in his final game as a Falcon, Bowling Green State University senior defensive lineman Diyral Briggs was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the week, announced by the league office on Monday (Dec. 1).
Briggs, a native of Mt. Healthy, Ohio, recorded seven tackles, two tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in the Falcons' 38-10 win at Toledo on Friday. Briggs nearly scored on his fumble return, scampering 33 yards, down to the Toledo five-yard line.
Briggs, along with the Falcon defense, allowed just 187 total yards, while forcing two turnovers in the Falcons' largest margin of victory ever at Toledo (28 points).
The fifth-year senior finished the year with 60 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. His sack total is tops in the conference, while is 13.5 tackles for loss rank second in the league.
