CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University women's basketball sophomore Lauren Prochaska has been named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon (Dec. 15). Prochaska earns the honor for the second time in her Falcon career, and the second time in three weeks.
Prochaska, a native of Plain City, Ohio (Jonathan Alder H.S.), had a game-high 24 points as the Falcons defeated St. Bonaventure, 77-59, Sunday afternoon (Dec. 14) at venerable Anderson Arena. SBU entered the game with a 6-1 record, and the Bonnies were coming off a double-digit win over then-nationally ranked Michigan State.
Prochaska was 8-of-13 from the field against SBU, including a 4-for-6 effort from three-point land, and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. She also had three rebounds and a pair of steals in the win.
Prochaska scored 18 of her points in the first half, as the Falcons opened up a 40-28 lead at the break. She had a four-point play as part of a 13-0 run in that opening half.
On the year, Prochaska leads the Falcons in scoring (16.7 ppg), rebounding (6.0 rpg), field goals made (53) and three-pointers made (26). She has made at least two treys in each of the Falcons' nine games this year to date.
Prochaska now has made an even 100 three-pointers in her Falcon career, in just 43 games.
Prochaska earned this week's MAC P-O-W honor for the East Division. Central Michigan's Britni Houghton earned the West Division honor.
The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller, 7-2 on the season, will take a seven-game winning streak into a Sunday (Dec. 21) game vs. Hartford. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m. at Anderson.
