BUFFALO, New York - For the fourth consecutive year, the Bowling Green State University swimming and diving program captured a school record at the Mid-American Conference Championships. This time a quartet of Falcons set a new university record in the 200-medley relay while earning fifth place in the opening race of the meet at Buffalo University. Another top five finish in the 800 free relay gave the Orange and Brown 56 points, placing them fifth overall. The University of Toledo controls the leader board with 74 points followed by Eastern Michigan at 66 points. Ohio and Miami are tied in third place at 64 and the Falcons round out the top five.
The foursome consisting of senior co-captain Michael Carriaga, junior Alisha Yee, and sophomores Meg Richardson and Frankie Houck broke their own program record as they finished the 200-medley relay in 1:44.40. The previous mark was 1:44.94 set a year ago at the MAC meet at Eastern Michigan University. This record is the fourth relay record to fall under head coach Keri Buff's tenure with the Falcons. Toledo took the relay victory with a time of 1:41.32. In addition, Miami, Ohio, and Buffalo placed ahead of BGSU.
In the second relay of the evening, the Orange and Brown gained another fifth place spot as they finished the 800 free relay with a time of 7:31.50. Yee swam in her second relay of the night along with senior Jen Wright, junior Sami Jordan, and freshman Sarah Burston.
