Two Falcons Earn MAC Medals in Buffalo

BUFFALO, New York - The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team totaled 123.5 points through seven events, placing them in sixth place at the Mid-American Conference Championships.
Two Falcons garnered a top three finish in the 200 IM to catapult the Falcons scoring. Alisha Yee set a new personal best as she received her first individual MAC medal, placing second in the event. Her time of 2:04.01 beat her previous best of 2:05.38 by more then a second. Senior co-captain Michael Carriaga earned a third place finish for the Falcons setting her own personal best time. With a time of 2:04.29, Carriaga shaved more than three seconds of her prior best. This is Carriaga's second individual MAC medal, as she also placed third in the 100 fly at the 2005-06 MAC meet. Toledo's Meg Reissig took the win in this event breaking the MAC, MAC meet, and Buffalo pool record in a time of 2:01.24. Reissig also set a B cut time.
In addition, senior Kim Albin and freshman Sarah Burston contributed to BGSU's score with top 15 finishes in the 200 IM. Albin finished 13th, setting a new best with a time of 2:07.09 and Burston placed one behind her in 14th with a 2:08.04 time.
Freshman Carrie Enright contributed to the scoring, picking up a top 15 time in the 50 free. Her time of 24.44 placed her 15th in the field.
The Orange and Brown earned a sixth place time in the lone relay event of the evening. The team of Enright, Meg Richardson, Jen Wright, and Sami Jordan finished the 200 free in 1:35.17. Eastern Michigan won the event in 1:32.08 while setting new MAC, MAC meet, and pool records.
Overall, Toledo leads the meet with 258.5 points. The Rockets are followed by Ohio (225 points), Eastern Michigan (198) and Miami (182). Buffalo rounds out the top five with 148 points. Behind the Falcons are Akron (111) and Ball State (82).
The Championships continue tomorrow with preliminaries beginning at 11:00 am and finals at 7:00 p.m.
