BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - On Friday Feb. 8th the Bowling Green State University gymnastics team will travel to Muncie, Indian to compete in a Mid-American Conference showdown with Ball State University. BGSU is coming off of a tough loss in the All-Ohio to Kent State and Ohio State, where For the first time this season the Falcons were unable to better their team score. This meet will be part of Think Pink Weekend. The meet is designed to raise awareness for both breast and cervical cancer.
Scouting the Cardinals
Ball State's head coach will know what to expect from the Falcons as she was the assistant coach under Kerrie Beach while they were at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. BSU comes into this meet after a tough loss to Northern Illinois last week 192.400-188.625. Leading the way for the Red and White was senior Erica Gilkerson who tied for third on the vault with a 9.725. She would also place fourth on beam (9.525) and third on floor (9.750).
The Cardinals are 0-3 in the MAC and 0-4 overall. The Falcons lead the series 19-12, with their last win coming last season as BGSU downed BSU 191.425-188.925.
Last Week's Wrap-up
Last week is a meet that Beach would rather leave in the past as her team did not perform up to her standards. They had a rough outing as only 14 out of 24 routines were hit. Leading the team was senior co-captain Jacque Bernhard who tied for seventh on the vault (9.750), and hit her season best routine on floor claiming eighth with a 9.725.
Sophomore Breanne Guy tied Bernhardt on vault as she too landed a 9.750. She also finished third in the all-around with a 38.350. For the third week in a row freshman Michelle Luchini lead the Orange and Brown on bars with a score of 9.725 placing her in third. Junior Katie Follett nailed her best routine of the season on beam as she took sixth with a 9.700.
MAC Presence
Guy still holds her top-ten spot in the all-around with a 38.475. Bernhardt and Guy were first and second respectively in vault scores but where topped by Christian Lenny of Kent State with her 9.875. Luchini holds the third spot on bars with her performance of a 9.775. The Falcon's top performer on beam is Guy who has a 9.725 and the 13th spot. Floor sees two Falcons in the top five, as Guy and Satterlee both have 9.825 and are tied for third place. Morgan Balzer's score of 9.8 has her sitting in ninth.
As a team the Orange and Brown's team score of 191.950 puts them in eighth overall. Their vault score of 48.550, which was scored in the first meet of the season, has them in third. They are in ninth place on the bars (48.225), seventh place on beam (47.900) and tenth on floor (48.025).

MAC Standings
Home Sweet Home
After their meet Friday night the squad will return home to host MAC opponent Central Michigan Saturday Feb. 16th. This meet will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be Alumni Night. The team will then travel up north to visit Kalamazoo, MI home of Western Michigan. That meet will be Sunday Feb. 24th at 1:00 p.m.
