Falcons Improve but Struggles on the Road

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA - On Saturday (March 1) the Bowling Green State University gymnastics team finished third out of four in a quad meet at Penn State. The hosts Penn State claimed the title with a 195.025; they were followed by George Washington (192.575), BGSU (189.800) and SUNY Cortland (183.800). The Falcons improved their team score from the night before, with a 188.475; however they still have not found their constant rhythm.
The team started the night out on floor where they scored a 47.825. Jacque Bernhardt finished highest for the team in sixth place with a 9.775. Breanne Guy flipped to a 9.650 and a 10th place finish and Queenita Gamble had a 9.600 placing her in 13th.
On vault the team seemed to have found a groove as they scored a 48.250. Again Bernhardt led the way scoring a 9.800 tying her for fourth. Guy followed close behind with a 9.750 and a seventh place finish.
Bars where again a weak spot for the team who had to count two falls posting a 46.375. Guy finished tied for fifth with a 9.650. Lexi Psichopaidas had the next highest score with a 9.450 placing her tied with Jholeen Ponce in 13th.
The team ended the meet on the beam where they had a 47.350. Queenita Gamble had another strong performance on beam posting a 9.775 and claiming second. Jenna Wirtanen tied for sixth scoring a 9.625.
The team will head home and attempt to regroup before leaving for Raleigh, North Carolina to face NC St. That meet will be held on Sunday March 9 at 7:00 p.m. The team will look forward to competing in front of their home crowed on March 14 in Anderson Arena. They will close their regular season schedule at home on March 22 against Kentucky.
