Falcons Finish Sixth at Rutherford Intercollegiate

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Bowling Green State University men's golf team climbed two spots on the final day of competition at the 2008 Rutherford Intercollegiate to finish sixth. The Falcons, who carded a 914 (302-295-317) in the 54-hole competition, placed three golfers in the top-23 of the 66-person field.
Leading the way was senior Jace Walker, who finished in a tie for 15th. The St. Thomas, Ont., native carded a 54 hole score of 227 (77-73-77). Also finishing in the top-third of the field were a pair of sophomores in John Powers and Matt Schneider. Powers fired a 228 (78-71-79) to finish in a tie for 18th, while Schneider's 229 (78-72-79) placed him in a tie for 23rd.
Rounding out the Falcon competitors were Trevor Spathelf (234, T-43rd) and Russell Goodwin (238 (T-54th).
Up next for the Orange and Brown is a one-day event at the First Energy Intercollegiate on Apr. 26, before heading to Westerville, Ohio for the 2008 MAC Championships (May. 2-4).
