Chris Gacom And Dennis Vaughn Both Named To Central Illinois All-Star Squad

HUNTINGBURG, Ind. - Bowling Green State University baseball players Chris Gacom and Dennis Vaughn have both been named Central Illinois Collegiate League All-Stars, as announced by the league office on Monday (July 14th). The two Falcons, who have been participating for the Springfield Sliders of the CICL this summer, will represent the CICL in a game to be played on July 21st, at League Stadium in Huntingburg, Indiana against the All-Stars from the Kentucky Illinois Tennessee Summer Collegiate Baseball Leageu (Kitty League).
Gacom, who was voted to the team as an outfielder, currently has a .309 batting average with five doubles, one triple, three homers and 15 RBI in 28 games played. The senior to be is perfect in 49 chances in the field and is second on the team with a .479 slugging percentage.
Vaughn, who was also voted to the team as an outfielder, has a team-leading .354 average with a team-high nine doubles, one triple, two homers and a team-best 27 RBI. The left-hander has also drawn 13 walks on the summer as he has a .443 on-base percentage. His batting average and RBI total both rank third amongst the league's leaders.
Together the two have led the Sliders to a 25-4 record, including a 20-4 mark in the first half and a perfect 5-0 start to the second. The Sliders currently stand in first place in the overall league standings by nine and a half games over DuPage.
