BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Head coach Curt Miller has announced Tamika Nurse, formerly of the University of Oregon, will join the Bowling Green State University women's basketball program for the 2008-09 season. Nurse will sit out the upcoming academic year due to NCAA transfer rules, but will have one athletic season of eligibility remaining in 2009-10.

"Tamika's arrival at Bowling Green will be a huge addition for our program," said Miller. "When she was making her final decision out of high school, she narrowed her choices to Oregon and Bowling Green; three years later, we are excited she has chosen to finish her career as a Falcon while becoming an important piece of our championship drive."
Nurse, a 5-8 point guard who played three seasons for the Ducks (2005-08), averaged 6.7 points per game while dishing out over 200 career assists. During her 90 game career in the Pac-10, she earned 48 starts while averaging over 30 minutes per game in both her junior and a sophomore campaigns. She leaves with a .762 (237-311) free throw percentage that ranks sixth on the program's all-time list.
"Tamika is an elite athlete and will impact the game at both ends of the floor. We look forward to her attacking the basket within our ball screen offense while playing multiple guard positions," said Miller.
"She has gained invaluable experience playing against the elite point guards in the Pac-10, including four-time All-American and reigning State Farm Wade Trophy winner Candice Wiggins of Stanford. I am excited that Tamika can use her experience to mentor our underclass guards this coming season."
The Hamilton, Ontario native will be the second member of her family to play for Miller. Her aunt, Raquel McNabb (Nurse) was the staring point guard for Syracuse University between 1994-98 while Miller and current Director of Operations, Monique Rosati, were on staff for the Orange.
