Women's Golf Swings into Action on Monday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University's women's golf team will swing their way into the 2008-09 season Monday, September 1 and Tuesday, September 2, at the Laker Fall Classic hosted by Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich.
The Falcons are led by head coach Stephanie Young, who is returning for her fourth season at the helm of the women's golf team. In 2007-08, Young coached her team to a first place finish at the BGSU Falcon Invitational and a second place finish at the TSU Spring Invitational.
The Falcons will return five players with the addition of freshman, Paula DeFrancesco, making it a six-player squad.
Finishing third on the team with an 81.86 stroke average, sophomore, Lauren Glew returns to the course to lead her team. In her first career tournament, Glew tied for third with a 36-hole score of 151 (77-74). Glew also tied for fourth at the Falcon Invitational.
Teammate and twin sister, Marisa Glew, also returns to the team, ending last season with an 84.75 stroke average. Glew placed third at the TSU Spring Invitational and 14th at the Falcon Invitational with a 54-hole score of 251 (85-87-79).
Fellow sophomore, Megan Bader will return for her second season as a member of the women's golf team. After competing in two tournaments last year, Bader finished the season with an 85.75 stroke average. She finished 11th at the TSU Spring Invitational and 17th at the Falcon Invitational.
Also returning is junior Hannah Lambert. Lambert placed ninth at the Falcon Invitational. She concluded the season with an 85.17 stroke average. Between her first two years on the golf team, Lambert has improved her game by 13 strokes per round.
Rounding out the upper classmen is returning junior, Megan Gormley. Gormley placed 11th at the TSU Spring Invitational and 15th at the Falcon Invitational where she carded a career low of 79. She ended her year with an 85.57 stroke average. Newcomer, DiFrancesco, comes from Notre Dame Catholic School in Blurlington, Ontario.
After the two-day tournament in Allendale, Mich., the women's golf team will travel to University Park, Penn. for the Nittany Lion Invitational.
