BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University football team's practice was a bit different tonight (Aug. 6) as the team took the field for the first time this season in pads. There were also several plays that stood out to make this a memorable couple of hours.
On the offensive side of the ball Marques Parks caught a swing pass from junior quarterback Tyler Sheehan and turned up field immediately for a 40-yard touchdown. Later that evening Sheehan connected with Parks again for a 75-yard score (Sheehan threw it roughly 40 yards and Parks took it in from there).
The Falcons' offense also worked on the running game from the shotgun formation and both Willie Geter and Eric Ransom scored 15-yard touchdowns on back-to-back plays.
Defensively three seniors had standout plays.
Linebacker Erique Dozier stripped a ball carrier and took it 40 yards for a score.
Defensive end Diyral Briggs grabbed a fumbled snap out of the air and ran 60 yards for the touchdown. As Briggs reached the endzone he celebrated with a forward flip. The very next play Kenny Lewis recorded an interception, his second in three practices.
The best play of the night though came from wide receiver Freddie Barnes. On the final offensive play of the night Sheehan threw a 20-yard strike to Barnes, who made a leaping one-handed catch. The entire team went crazy when Barnes rolled over and still had the ball tucked away under his right arm.
