Men's Golf Finishes T-Fifth at Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Bowling Green State University men's golf team carded a 54-hole score of 873 (284-287-302) to finish in a tie for fifth-place at the 2008 Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, hosted by Ball State University. Eastern Kentucky won the event with a score of 857.
The Falcons were led by juniors John Powers and Matt Schneider who both finished in a tie for second overall, finishing four shots behind Eastern Kentucky's Jesse Massie (205).
Powers opened with a 68-69 and finished with a 72 on the final day of play to card a 54-hole score of 209. In that final round the Bowling Green, Ohio native had a streak of five birdies in five holes.
Schneider, who also fired a 209, opened with a 69-66 and completed his tournament with a 74 on the final day of competition.
Also competing for the Orange and Brown were Parker Hewit (223, T-38th), Bryan Mitchell (232, 60th) and Scott Blackburn (251, 73rd).
Junior Chad Walker competed as an individual, finishing in a tie for 38th (223).
A total of 13 teams and 75 golfers competed in the two-day event.
